Terms of Business

Your dog is very important to us. We will use all our care to ensure we make your dog’s grooming experience

as pleasant and as safe as possible. Safety comes first during the grooming processes. All clients are required

to complete and sign the Consent Form, which can be found at the end of the Terms and Conditions. All data is

confidential and will not be shared with any third party. From time to time the terms and conditions may be

amended and any changes can be found on our website: www.bubbles-bows-clacton.co.uk


Consultation & Groom:

The owner’s satisfaction is very important to us. A pre-groom consultation/discussion will take place at every

appointment to find out your grooming requirements and every effort will be made to meet your

expectations. We value feedback on our service and ask that you discuss the grooming session before and

after completion.


Care of your dog:

Although accidents are very rare, there is a risk when handling dogs. Although I use extreme caution and care

in all situations, grooming equipment is extremely sharp and possible accidents can occur, including cuts, nicks,

scratches, or quicking of the nails. In most cases, this can happen when a dog is wiggling or moving around.

If the services of a veterinarian are required in the case of an incident, accident or serious medical problem

occurring during the groom, the owner authorises us to seek treatment at the owner’s expense. The owner

agrees that Bubbles & Bows of Clacton is not liable for any pre-existing conditions and problems found during

the groom.


Aggressive dogs:

We are unable to accept dogs with aggression problems towards other dogs or people and subject to the

terms of the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991. We reserve the right to refuse to groom aggressive or difficult dogs

with behavioural problems. The owner must agree to inform us if their dog is known to be aggressive or has

ever bitten anyone. The owner understands that they will be legally liable for the consequences of all bites

caused by their dog. If the dog becomes unmanageable, aggressive or anxious whilst being groomed the owner

will be contacted and asked to collect their dog at no charge.


Health matters:

It is important that you inform of us of any health problems that your dog may have, particularly epilepsy,

diabetes, arthritis, aches and pains, heart conditions, recent surgery, allergies, skin conditions and sensory loss

such as deafness and blindness/partial sight. We examine your dog for lumps and bumps during the groom

and should anything be found we will notify you upon collection. Grooming sick and elderly dogs will be at the

owner’s risk but we reserve the right to refuse to groom a dog if we consider that it is too unwell to proceed.


Matted coats:

We groom humanely and in line with the Animal Health & Welfare Act 2006. The owner’s satisfaction is very

important to us, however, when a dog presents in a matted condition, de-matting would cause the dog stress

and discomfort and therefore clipping a dog’s coat shorter is a quicker and a gentler alternative. Under the

Animal Welfare Act, it is an offence to cause unnecessary suffering to an animal, and this includes de-matting,

which is painful and detrimental to the welfare of the dog. If a dog presents with more than 20 minutes of de-

matting work, we are required by this act to clip your dog short. I confirm that I give Bubbles & Bows of

Clacton the permission for my dog’s coat to be clipped shorter in this instance.


Preparation of the dog:

A full bladder and bowel can be very uncomfortable for a dog whilst it is being groomed. We would ask that

your dog has been toileted before bringing him or her to the salon.


Parasites:

If your dog has fleas, we ask that you treat this prior to visiting the salon. Should your dog be brought to us

with infestation, you must consent to us using an insecticidal shampoo. There is a considerable cost

involvement following treatment of an infested dog as the salon has to be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected.

We therefore reserve the right to add a surcharge to the cost of the groom to cover this expense or ask that

Late and Missed Appointments:

We try to make sure that our appointments are kept to time in order that the dogs do not spend any longer in

the salon than is necessary. Also, we do not wish to inconvenience our other customers. If you are more than

15 minutes later than the appointment time you will have to make another appointment as this will have a

knock on effect on later bookings. Please telephone us on 07946 895845 if you expect to be late for your

appointment. Missed appointments are costly to our business and cause inconvenience to other customers

who have to wait longer to have their pet groomed. If you are unable to attend please give us 24 hours’ notice

by telephone on 07946 895845 and we will be happy to offer you another date.


Photography:

We use before and after pictures which may be shared on our website and social media sites. Please be

assured that no reference will be made to the location/name of your dog. The security of your dog is

paramount. If you do not wish your dog’s image to be used on our website or social media pages, please

inform of us of this.


Payment:

All dogs must be paid for upon collection from the salon. We accept cash and BACS payment only. We do not

have a terminal for debit or credit card transactions.
